Basic Information
Name: Tachibana Kotarou
Age: 262 years old, appears to be around 26.
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Species: Shinigami
Species-Specific Information
Zanpakuto's Name: Sassou Debabou (Dashing Knife)
Level: Captain of Squad 11.
Zanpakuto Abilities: Sassou Debabou's shikai is a katana with the sharpest blade in all of Seireitei. Whilst sharp, it is also amazingly strong and never wears down. It looks to be made of glass, as the blade itself is partially transparent, but is no more fragile for that fact. In its hilt is a matching kaiken (dagger).
Shikai: When in shikai form, Sassou Debabou's blade turns from a katana to a naginata, a pole weapon consisting of a shaft with a wide curved blade at the end.
Bankai: This zanpakuto's bankai is called Yasei no Debabou (Wild Knife), and allows Tachibana to control the air around his opponent with bursts of wind that can knock them from their feet at the very least.

Appearance
Play-by: Kurogane (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles)
Appearance: Tachibana stands at nearly six foot five inches, so he is very tall. As he is the captain of a combat-focused squad, Tachibana is quite muscluar, which balances out his tall and broad stature. He also has tanned skin and, unusually, dark red eyes. Unlike most shinigami who wear the more practical straw waraji, Tachibana wears geta sandals. His uniform is the standard Shihakushou, with the addition of a dark red belt. When wearing casual clothing as opposed to his uniform, Tachibana still wears the traditional Japanese-style clothing.
History/Personality
Family Members: His parents are Ryoutaro and Mizuki, members of the Tachibana family, one of the four great noble families in Soul Society. He has two older sisters, Sakura and Nana, and two younger twin brothers, Ichirou and Jirou.
Short Biography:
Raised in the prestigious Tachibana family, Kotarou was somewhat of a spoilt child, even with four siblings to battle for dominance with. And battle he did. Much to his parents annoyance, Kotarou was always a bit of a bully, especially to his twin brothers, as the three of them were quite close in age. As he grew older, Kotarou never really fell into the role of the next head of the family, which he had been expected to as the eldest son. Ever the hot-head, Kotarou was constantly making trouble for his family by causing trouble with other families and escalating long-lasting disputes.
Eventually, Kotarou's father suggested that he be sent to a dojo to learn martial arts, hoping that this would help to give the boy something to vent his hot-headedness with. So, from a fairly young age, Kotarou was part of a well-known dojo in the most prestigious area of Rukongai, close to his home, to learn kendo. For a while, this did seem to temper Kotarou's hot-headedness, as he was often exhausted from practice and had no energy to start fights. Eventually, however, his original vigour returned outside of the dojo, and Kotarou was back to his trickster ways. And of course, now that he had knowledge of kendo, he readily put that to use and began causing even more havoc than before. The solution? As well as continuing to attend the kendo dojo, Kotarou was made to join a karate dojo as well.
This lasted for several years, until Kotarou was (or rather, appeared to be) around the age of nineteen. It was at this this time that Kotarou met the Captain of the First Division of the 13 Court Guard Squads, who had been meeting with Kotarou's father regarding some family business. The Captain Commander had heard of how unruly the first son of the Tachibana family was, and sought him out after the meeting with Kotarou's father. The Captain Commander, upon meeting Kotarou, suggested that he enter the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, saying that he would be ideal for a particular squad. Dismissing the suggestion at first, Kotarou said nothing of it to his parents, until one day a few years later, he overheard his father berating a group of Shinigami that had come to aid with security at an event run by the Tachibana family. Of course, hearing his father's dislike for the Shinigami, Kotarou, in a rebellious phase of mind, decided to apply to the Shinigami Academy.
Upon learning that his son had applied to the Academy, Kotarou's father was furious. Nobody in the family had ever been a Shinigami before, even if they had a high spiritual pressure. However, knowing that his son would not back down, and in the back of his mind realising that Kotarou was most certainly not cut out to be the head of the family, Kotarou's father allowed it. On one condition: That Kotarou become Captain of a division.
Once he graduated from the academy, Kotarou was quickly accepted into the eleventh squad, which, as the most combat-oriented division, suited him perfectly. He did not aim for rank, even though many people deferred to him because of his social status. Instead, Kotarou was happy just being in this squad and fighting on the front lines. However, the current Captain saw Kotarou's talent and, when the position became available, made Kotarou his Lieutenant. Though he hadn't really cared about obtaining a position in the rankings, Kotarou eventually came to love being able to legitimately tell the others what to do, and when his Captain was killed in action some years later, Kotarou was easily the first candidate for the position. Now that he had had a taste of being in charge, Kotarou put his all into getting stronger. He even went to the Captain Commander and asked for his help to control his newly obtained bankai. When the time came to choose the new Captain of squad Eleven, Kotarou passed with flying colours.

Personality:
Tachibana Kotarou is, first and foremost, a hot-headed bully. He has a very fiery temper, often finds it hard to control his emotions, and will never, ever back down from something, whether it be a promise or a threat. This also means, however, that when somebody promises something to him he expects them to go through with their promise no matter what. If that person breaks that promise, they instantly mean nothing to Kotarou. He is not the sort of person who easily forgets things, so he holds grudges for a very long time.
Saying this, Tachibana does not have an instant dislike of those who are weaker than him. In his own way, he is very encouraging to others, though this mostly comes in the form of teasing and reverse psychology. He is never happier than the moment when he sees somebody achieve something that they never thought they could do. If you pass Tachibana's expectations, you are forever in his good books (unless of course you break a promise to him!).
In his spare time, Tachibana enjoys nothing more than spending time in the dojo, honing his skills. Second to that, however, he can often be found sitting around outside with some tea. Also, although he would never admit it, Tachibana has a bit of a sweet tooth. His favourite sweets are dango and manjuu.
